I am a board member of the Anglia Ruskin University Colchester Hospital ICENI Centre, a European centre of excellence in training, research and development in laparoscopic surgery. I was formerly Clinical Director and Clinical Lead in Process Re-engineering at Colchester Hospital, United Kingdom. I have extensive international experience in award winning translational medical research, health system research, audit and supervision. My own early research on positron emission tomography (PET) was translated into mainstream practice across Europe and North America, enabling earlier cancer detection and improved treatment outcomes.
I am also on the faculty of the European Surgical Institute for Laparoscopic Skills Training in Hamburg and a member of the Council of the International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeons (ISLCRS). My field experience spans many countries beyond Europe and North America, including Brazil, India, Sri Lanka and China.
I am a member of the Medical Board of the charity Beating Bowel Cancer.
