Are all Botulinum Toxins equally cost effective?
We designed, initiated and hosted a patient registry on Botulinum Toxins. We analysed patient reported outcomes, differentiated by onset of action, duration of action and adverse event profiles from 3500 episodes. We then constructed a cost impact calculator to quantify cost differences between the alternative options, after which we disseminated our findings to the cosmetic surgery community.
Publication in the Journal of Aesthetic Medicine & Journal of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Results showed dominance of one of three alternative BoTNAs.
COM/DCOM, MTS, XML, ASP, VB, Java.
Oracle 8.0, SQL Server.
Data from registry showed clear separation between the 3 clinical outcomes & patient reported outcomes.
Results showed that the most cost effective alternative was not the alternative most frequently chosen, signalling an evidence based shift in practice.
